OK, so lots of Smog Veil bands on the road this spring: Rocket From The Tombs tour of Europe restarts on May 18 in Paris (gigs through the May 24 appearance in Munich are going off as planned, but check our Facebook fan page to be sure), Ralph Carney's Serious Jass Project makes a trip to the UK, The Guns special record release party is May 26. All the details are below. By the way, wondering what Cheetah is up to? Well, congrats to the new creative director of
Plowboy Records!
The Guns. Hands down the top-end standard by which all other Northeast Ohio hardcore bands should be measured, Cleveland hardcore history could not have been the same without The Guns. Scott Eakin and Dave Araca formed the band originally as a 2-piece, later adding to the lineup some amazing rippers in the form of Sean Saley, Bob Ries, and Scott Silverman. Though a couple compilation appearances is all they managed back in the day, this release collects those tracks plus all other studio recordings, as well as some choice live cuts. The LP also featuresVince Rancid's original cover art as commissioned by the band in the 80s. The numbers: double LP with free download code, 43 songs, 1 and only 1 pressing of 900 copies.
A record release party has been set for Now That's Class in Cleveland on May 26, featuring sets from Dead Federation, Zero Defex, Killer Of Sheep, and a tribute from Gun Parole (with some extra surprises as well). NOTE: this item ships around June 1!
This Moment In Black History returns with a one-sided 7-inch release. 'Family Day At Euclid Beach' is the title of the release and the screamer of a song appearing here, augmented by an extra song available with the included free download code. Black vinyl, etched on the b-side. Strictly limited to one pressing of 500 copies, this will not be repressed. Note that this will ship around April 30.
THOR has a new download release. Back in January, 2010, THOR made a live appearance in Baltimore backed by the rippers in Puling Teeth. The result is
Thor's Teeth. Classic THOR cuts delivered with all the power you'd expect. Originally released in an insanely limited 100 copy LP with gatefold sleeve (
Dwid did the cover art), those are all gone. THOR has also announced his headlining appearance at the
Armstrong Metal Fest in July, details to follow.
